Strike Doubling Or?????

    If I look at this coin with a 17x loupe, I don't see any of the signs of shelving that I would expect to see with strike doubling so not really sure about this 1989D cent, although I have a feeling that it may be nothing more then that. Any and all opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Most likely this is split planted doubling very common on these dates. There is no indicating of notching on the letters and they are not raised so I would go with SPD or MD

    Joe...what is a split planted doubling (SPD)?

    I think the doubling on this reverse cent would be MDD (machine damaged doubling).

    I see marginal shelving, which is consistent with machine doubling. I see no splits in the copper plating. There is no such term as "split planted doubling".

    plating split doubling i ment sorry ,if you go to a site called other forms of doubling that;s were you would get some great information on doubling
