Just learning about errors. Almost didn't post this but I'm curious on your opinions. Could just be a damaged coin but the MM looks misplaced, etc. Thanks for your input.
Welcome to the neighborhood @Jhnby1017. PMD as mentioned, but to go further, if you look closely at your coin, you will see a circular line on the right side above the date and mint mark. This is evidence of coin rolling machine damage. As the machine closes the paper roll, it will sometimes gouge the surface. This is what caused the damage to the date and mint mark. It is quite common so not any type of error, just damage. NAV, no added value.
I'm learning with all of your help. I have purchased the downloadable Cherry Pickers books on my kindle, also bought the "Strike it Rich with Pocket Change." So doing my own work in learning as well. Thanks to all.
For what it's worth, many here are not fans if the "strike it rich from pocket change" book and all of the similar websites. Realistically, finding minor errors isn't easy. Finding something that retails for a few dollars is a rare event. Strike it rich? Well, You might as well write a book called "strike it rich from buying lotto tickets". If it was easy to get rich looking at change, many of us with decades of collecting experience would be sitting on a beach in the Caribbean, drinking cocktails with little umbrellas instead of answering questions on coin talk. The criticism of these sites is that they don't tell you that there us a very low probability of finding them in change. Cherry pickers is a good resource. Best advice is to learn the minting and die making process. It takes time, but the more you know, they easier it will be to spot real errors and not waste time on PMD
