1924 Peace Dollar

    I have a 1924 Peace Dollar that has on the reverse side of the coin a 5 on one side of the eagle and an 8 and the other. Does anyone know of or heard of such an error.

    have any pictures?? that might help us determine if it's a fake or an error.

    Sounds like the coin has been counterstamped. It is not an error.

    I agree. Counterstamping is the likely culprit here.

    In case you're wondering, this almost always lowers the value.
