And I think the $666 bidder (with 13K+ feedback, most of us who've been around eBay awhile know who he is) knows exactly what he is doing... sometimes you have to bait a thief to catch a thief.
Another 1799/8 sold under auction #270322895402 with a different slab. Could be the same one being resold.
That one is PCGS and in a circulated condition plus the pics on that one are much more professional. Whoever took the pics on the one in question, will have other pics that look similar and I was hoping someone here would recognize the look/style. Ribbit
There was an article recently in Coin World about 6 coin store robberies in Calif. Is it possible that this could be part of that loot?
If it is someone on the NGC Boards will catch it, since I posted this there too. The idea that this could be ill gotten gains has already been brought up, since it's pretty obvious the seller isn't an avid collector. :goofer: Ribbit
I did too. :thumb: Since we couldn't prove it's a stolen photo situation, I told them is was most likely a stolen photo so beware. I figure PayPal will restrict the funds until the winning bidder receives it and one of the members of the CFE Group messaged the seller and told them the funds would most likely be held, since the seller is new to Ebay and the seller said they wouldn't ship until the funds cleared, so that doesn't sound good but I am the same way and not a scammer, so it could go either way. This one won't be over anytime soon so grab some popcorn and watch the show. I think it might end up being a nail biter. Ribbit
It is probably just a coincidence, but i find it interesting that the guy running this suspect listing, and the guy from whom i won the 1844 dime in the summer (which i never received, most likely never sent) BOTH are registered in that part of NY state......
You know HT, nothing happened (what is NARU'd by the way?). PayPal was not able to refund me because the guy's account was frozen and empty, and i never heard from the seller again. BUT, get this! i saw that he tried to sell the same coin later again in another forum........!
Do I somehow smell China????? That seems to be their modus operandi. New member, first post, high caliber coin. Hope it is legit but something seems a little odd on this one.
