It has been awhile since I posted pics of anything nice, so I thought I'd grab one of my more recent finds and put it up. This 1842 cent is the large date type, but I love the small letters on the reverse. I had a hard time deciding whether it was VF or XF, so if you've got any thoughts on the matter let it fly.

I would say it needs more detail in the hair to be in the vf range.

VF-20. Possible light corrosion - can't tell from pictures.

Sorry, my post was suppose to read.

I would say it needs more detail in the hair to be in the XF range.

I guess i need more sleep.

Will look at it more when I get home from work - my initial thoughts were VF details.

    Surfaces rather rough.
At first I thought a problem with the original planchet.
But then I felt that shouldn't carry over to the devices.
So now I think environmental damage.
    Degrades an otherwise nice coin.
