You're correct, it's just damage. It looks like it led a rough life during it's 70 years of circulation.
Ditto! Welcome to the neighborhood @Skippy47 ! Please tell me why you think it would be anything other than circulation damage. If you're going to search for errors, you should at least familiarize yourself with the minting process. Otherwise, you will be wasting a lot of time looking at circulation wear & tear.
Welcome to CT. PMD, post mint damage for sure. As @cpm9ball said, it is a good idea to really study how coins are actually minted so you can determine what is PMD vs. might be an error. Good luck.
