Well, I know that the first seated liberty was struck around 1836 and the date of the coin which I have is 1817 S. The problem and the reason that I am posting this coin is the second (1) of the date which is unusual to me: it is bigger than the other one and is shiny and bold! I am thinking that there could be another digit beneath (1) and let say double strike. I like to hear from you experts, please. Thank you.
It is a very beautiful coin with almost all the details visible and there is no sign of (copy ) or (fake) on it.

The first Trade Dollar was issued in 1873. 1817 is just a little off. Once you get through that, we can talk about the surfaces that totally different from the real coin.

Aside from the obvious (1817), compare the folds on her clothes against photos of the real thing. They're so badly done. Actually, we wish all counterfeits are so easy to spot. Just for fun, check what it weighs and see if it sticks to a magnet.

Sorry @Teran but yeah you have been hornswaggled on this one. Manufacturers whose intent is to deceive do not put "COPY" on their coins.

Should be +/- 27.22g. (A good site to see these specs is: en.numista.com). Hey, since the year is so far off, you should keep it as a cool novelty item - like a 1944 steel cent. But if you can recover your purchase cost, that would be the best.

Wow! A 1817 Liberty Seated Dollar. That's a new one. Definitely a fake.
