So I was looking through a bag of wheat pennies a bought awhile back and found this 1941 . I’m new this hobby and still have problems identifying doubling vs machine doubling. Can anyone verify ?
Nice find! 1941 FS- 102!!!! http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1941PDDO002.htm Congrats.
Sorry for the terrible pictures I use my iPhone to get the close up pics I have a magnifying thing that clips over the camera so it’s either zoomed way in or regular lol . what do you think it grades out to ?
Lower VF. 20 or 25... Wow man you got some luck, go buy a lottery ticket also. you just got struck by lightning!
What would one of these be worth roughly ? I’ve been selling a fair amount of wheat pennies by the pound on eBay lately. I had maybe 20 pennies left from a bucket, trying to explain to my son ( 6 years old and hates when I look at coins in flea markets etc ). That a penny can be worth hundreds or thousands if it’s a error. I looked at this coin and a “wtf is this” thought struck me as I remembered the 1972 ddo-002 and 5-6 other 72 ddo varieties I found 6 months ago. I wish I could quit my full time job, and search through the few other buckets I have left. I had given up looking through pennies for errors after I packaged probably 50 plus coins I thought were ddo and know I’ve learned they’re machine doubling
Worth... just a guess I haven't seen one recorded that sold that was VF20 range and no history on something near or lower. Around $40 most likely. Maybe $50. A XF45 sold for around $70 a while ago.
