I started looking at some point is that my father has given my brother a long time ago and I found this proof coin 1983 to be exact. Upon inspecting it I notice it another date under the original date except the date behind 1983 is 1948. I thought a long time ago they made changes to US coins so that you couldn't end up with any design from another year on the one being produced at that time.
That's just some anomaly. 1983 Planchets are Copper plated zinc. Most likely a plating blister. Paredolia is the answer.
This @Way too impossible. And not even likely. If you have to use that much magnification to see a variety it is nothing but your imagination.
I would want to see both sides to see what other plating issues there are. It's obviously not struck on an old Wheat Cent since it's a Copper plated zinc planchet. Also to see of it is a Proof Cent. There is a difference between proof and business strike. And that is why we ask
Ok well if you don wantbto see it just keep scrolling right by my post in fact i would prefer that you did from now and on.
I forgot SF mint made business strikes ill get some pics of it. If its business strike then the condition alone will bring a pretty pinney no pun intended
I'd like to hear how what the OP says it is happened. How does a Wheat ear reverse for a 1948 copper planchet get under a 1983 zinc planchet memorial reverse?
