I recall a silver bullion coin that was privately minted around 1980, with several years involved, so it could be one of those. ;) I just can't remember what/who was on the coin but for some reason, I think it looked a little like a Morgan but as most everyone here knows, I suffer from CRS so I may be mistaken about what's on that coin. :goofer:

There are several different varieties of the 1878 Morgan dollar. Does it have a mintmark? If you don't know, this is a letter or two located on the reverse of the coin, underneath the eagle.

Does the eagle have 7 tailfeathers, or 8? There is also a 7 over 8 tailfeathers variety!

The retail price range, depending on mintmark and variety, assuming the grade actually is F-12, is roughly from $25 to $100. You would not get this much for the coin, though, if you were selling it to a dealer. You could expect about two-thirds of that price.
