Everything that I have read about them always says the same three things: 1. Prices are very high 2. Customer service is excellent. 3. Their grade is very fair and accurate.

I agree. They do great on everything but the price.

Less than a buck each? Get one of those introductory offers?

So the price was good and I do agree they do a good job of grading actually. I've always given them that.

I've seen a lot of their stuff as "second hand" sales over the years so would maintain that they are consistent. Actually, keeping a few in their holders could be used to help one with learning to grade by comparison.

I have never purchased coins directly from Littleton, but I've had a couple of dozen of lower-grade coins come through my hands from eBay purchases.

From what I've seen, they tend to be conservative. I've seen grades of G-4 on VG-8 coins. I've had a couple of quarters that they graded PR-60, that were clearly at least 63 or 64.

I give them the thumbs up.

Littleton is know for their high prices, but not as well know for their conservative grading.

I have known dealers who can't sell to them, becuase they (Littleton) are very strict on their grading.

Their prices seem high, but they do not sell buffed AU coins as uncirculated like many mail order companies. I used to order from them, but have since found a local dealer with more competitive prices whom I trust. Littleton's service is excellent though.

They sell problem free graded right coins, but charge a lot too! It's tough to sell to them as they are very picky and kick back lots but pay top dollar for great looking coins.

There is a 4th thing that should be added - they have high buy prices.

All this talk about how good they are makes me think I should have bought more from the guy. They were going for dirt cheap. Oh well I didn't know.

Without a doubt. I've seen their lists.
As also stated they "kick out" a lot of what is sent to them.

Shall we go for a fifth point?

They are VERY slow to pay those that sell to them.

I see the comment about their conservative grading frequently. As a former customer I would say that from what I have seen they are very strict on the grading when they are buying and they will not tolerate problem coins. But on the receiving end of their selling my opinion has usually been that they are problem free, but over graded. They may buy it as a Fine and they want it choice and problem free, but they then sell it as a problem free VF.
