My wife has an Avon booth at the local market so I took the kids out there to see what was around since it is open to whoever shows up kinda like a swap meet. In my travels I ran across a booth selling oddball junk. Ya know the guy with a little bit of everything from videos to tools and everything in between. He hada few ball cards and a small tray of coins. Most of the coins were Slick peace dollars and franklins halves. He had a few other pieces of silver and this was his only copper piece. He said he had never heard of two cent pieces. I asked how much and gladly paid the $25 he was asking for it. I dont know where he got it but I am glad I got it!  :D :D

Nice coin.I have got one dated 1864,but it is quite a worn coin.It is a very odd denomination,as is the 3c. coins,& the $3 gold coins.

How would you grade that ? I was guessing au50?
Anyway these are the prices from the May 2005 coin prices book.
    g4-14.50 vg8-$15.00 f12- $18.50 vf20- $25.00 xf40- $34.00
    au50-$65.00 ms60-$70.00 ms65-$630.00 prf65-$800.00

seems like $25.00 is a good deal

I just got into the 2 cent series and have a 1864 also. I already have pics of it up already. I would probably say choice AU since the lines in the shield are still fully defined and very little wear is in the wreath. The strike is weak and makes it look worse than what it really is.
