Howdy peeps, For those of you that already have a business and take credit cards at your business, why pay PayPal to process credit cards when you can do it and save a nice bit? One of the problems peeps have with calling in a credit card number, is security, so a secure web form is the way to go: http://www.ammonet-secure.com/toad.htm Click on the button on that page to see my secure credit card form. The way it works is the informaton goes into a secure database and I get an email notifying me that a transaction has occurred and I login to get the information, then run it manually on my credit card machine at my business and the funds are deposited directly into my checking account. If you have a business and don't take credit cards but are considering it, the one I went with charges 1.69% for cards in hand and 2.1% for manual transactions (MOTO), which is well below what PayPal charges. So if you do a nice bit of business on Ebay, you can save money by taking credit cards directly. :thumb: Plus, credit cards provide the holder with fraud protection, better than PayPal, so I advertise that on my listings, to give my buyers peace of mind when dealing with me. Just let me know what info you want. PayPal recently made my life a total nightmare, so I figured out how to take them out of the equation. Now, they can never do that to me again! They host the secure forms/database and do everything, so there is no need to have a seperate website for hosting nor the costs associated with a seperate website. So those costs should be factored in to determine if this is a feasible method for you.
I'm just curious to one thing, if you use ebay, from what I understand, they want you to use paypal only, that's why I quit dealing with them, am I not correct? Not questioning the secure web site, I love it, and agree that paypal are CROOKS. (my opinion only) If you can buy on ebay and not have to use paypal, then I'm back in the game.
I use Auctiva to list to Ebay and one of the options for payment is Merchant Credit Cards, which means you take credit cards directly. With this option, you can DECLARE you take credit cards directly but what I found out tonight, when I tried to list something, is I have to fax in proof I have a Merchants Credit Card Account. I just set it up and what they want me to fax in, I don't have yet, so I have to get my provider to send it to me but it's a weekend and they aren't in so I have to wait till Monday to get that from them, then I'll fax it in and "wait" for approval. :goofer: While all of this has been a pain in you know where, once I finish jumping through all the hoops, I won't have to dance to their tune any longer and it's well worth it so I will wait patiently until Monday, get my little piece of paper they want, fax it into them, then wait for approval and then I will start selling like crazy and PayPal will no longer get any of my money. And, as far as I'm concerned, I don't care if I save any money, PayPal has pee'd me off so bad, I don't ever want to deal with them as a seller and I know I'm not alone, hence, the reason I made this post. So, there is a way to sell on Ebay and not take PayPal. Ribbit Ps: One of the things we talk about on the Coin Fraud Group is how easy it is to get protection from your credit card provider, compared to PayPal, so my option gives better protection to the buyer, compared to using PayPal.
The last item I bought on Ebay, I paid with a credit card directly to the seller via the phone with no problems. Think more and more sellers are doing this. Did not go through Pay Pay. Think I have a touch of old timers and sometimes Pay pal confuses me.
Many peeps don't like giving their credit card info over the phone, they're worried about getting scammed and I don't blame them. But if they see you've got a secure web page to enter the information, they are more likely to not worry about it because if someone goes through the work and expense to give a person a secure way to provide their credit card info, they feel it must be a good company/person to deal with. That's why I made the form, so peeps could provide me their info on a secure setting and not have to worry about identity theft. If I read their rules correctly, as a seller, ebay requires you to list in your postings that you will accept only PayPal, and prohibits you from listing that you will take other forms of payment (except in certain categories such as motors). None of that prevents a buyer from contacting the seller by email or phone and arranging other forms of payment. A seller could include in the listing something like, "Email/call for payment details." I wonder, though, if ebay will start monitoring the completed auctions to see if a paypal payment had been made and then taking action against the seller or buyer involved if they have bypassed PayPal.

Handsome..Good luck and do let us know how it works out. I was trying to use my credit card to pay for an item through pay pay and clicked the wrong thing. I contacted the seller about how to proceed. They appeared to be professional and in that particular case I did not really concern myself about proceeding over the phone. I certainlly do not want to make this a habbit and would appreciate a better and more secure way .
I've also done it over the phone before but I worried about it afterwards, especially when I didn't get my coins. However, it was easy to get a refund. With PayPal, it's a nightmare to get a refund but credit card companies/banks are easy to get a refund from. Plus, if it is a fraudulent refund request, I have the necessary paperwork to prove I provided the goods, so I can stop reverse fraud. With all of the problems ocurring with PayPal, I believe this will be a viable alternative. And it will make for a better experience for the buyers. :thumb: I've already pee'd off both Ebay & PayPal with my last auctions and the feedback I received, so this is their last attempt to stop me from not taking PayPal but it won't succeed. :-D I will prevail and then I will start selling but until then, I will not do anything on Ebay, which includes buying, except for items I can't live without. :goofer: Ribbit

Also, the seller can not offer other methods nor can they solicit alternatives. I don't know about Federal Trade laws or Antitrust Laws but the policies listed are pretty specific. Hey David, What they mean by a Internet Merchants Account is a Merchants Credit Card Account. Which is what this thread is all about, helping others who already have a Merchants Credit Card Account, to be able to use it to process orders on Ebay without PayPal. Why would a business, that is already paying for a Merchants Credit Card Account, pay higher fees to PayPal to do what they can already do? :goofer: Ribbit
