Why ? Because it is so unique. The price is high because I have a high graded 1. I am sure they are cheaper in lower grades. I like varieties. Down the road I wanted a doubled die 1972 and 1984.
I have a 97 that only has doubling along side of ear and not the bottom. Would that be a poor mans doubled ear? LOL
I have the '84 graded by ANACS from the mid 80's. Have it in my safe deposit box. If my memory is correct, it is ms65.
This is a nice large photo where we can easily see the doubling. Why not post the same size pics of your first two coins? ('84 and '97 Doubled Ear).
I just started coin hunting and i was looking through some pennies i had found in my room, is this considered a double die? Of is it just a regular penny
