Mine would have to be my 1888 Indian cent found in a bank roll , but running a close second is a 1906-D Barber dime found at grandparents farmhouse!! :D

Although additional breaking news has come in that the "buried treasure" was actully not found as we were led to believe. The contest will still be based on your best "find" Find will not include stolen items

I found a 1943D walker in my first roll of halves the other day. When I came out of the room and told my wife, she handed me a funny looking dime. It was a beat-up mercury dime, can't even read the date, then she proceeded to ask me "who is walker". Gosh, I love that woman. She has got to be my best find of all time.

Being a young and relatively new world coin collector, one of my goals was to get a Queen Victoria coin. This was nearly met with a British 1 Penny coin, but was practically worn smooth when I got it.

The real find was a 1895 Canadian Half Penny, still retaining a bit of luster and well preserved detail. It was in a junk box, of all places.

15 years ago while demoing an old bar that sat on piers, found over 200 coins in the muck, almost all where silver coins, seems there was a thing about throwing coins at the bar maid back in the 40's in this place and these went thru the spaces in the floor beams.....

My best find (with a metal detector) was in Germany - found a silver Roman coin from 49 BC in EF condition. My eyes popped out when I dug it up:>

My best find was about a year ago, I'd just moved to a new city and was looking for a bank that would supply my coin roll needs and I went to one and asked if they had any halves and the guy looked at me kinda funny and said "Yeah, but they've been here forever, no one ever wants those." I had $70 on me so I got 7 rolls and when I glanced at the ends of the rolls 5 of the 7 coins facing up were obviously silver, so I immediately asked how many more rolls he had and he told me about $200 more so I went to the ATM and got enough to buy the rest of the rolls. The total lot had 23 rolls and of the 460 coins more than 150 were silver! About 50-60 were 1964's and the rest were 1965-1969! No Franklins/Walkers, but it was a blast! Just like opening presents on Christmas morning.

    BTW, great contest idea!

My best find was probably a 1943 half in perfect condition in a roll of Kennedy which also happened to have one 1964 in it.

  12. every 6 months there is a big coin and currency show in denver and a buddy and i get together and spend the day wishing we had more money.
well we have kind of a tradition that paid off one year. there is a seven eleven across the street from the arena where the event is held and we always hit the atm before we go. one year i withdrew $40.00 to spend. the machine gave me two crisp 1993 $20 star notes. my friend did the same and received the same.
we then went across the street and sold them for $29.00 a piece!!! after which we headed back to the atm and withdrew more money.
we each made more cash selling the star notes than we were planing to even spend that day. the guy who was buying them eventualy asked if we were just printing them out in the parking lot!!!
it has since never happened again. oh well. still a fun story.

I've been searching change and metal detecting for a long time and found lots of silver and some proof coins in change but nothing "breath taking" so I would have to say my best finds have been the coin forums. The forums and the people on them have made my hobbies so much more fun.

My best find was a 1922-d peace dollar in vf condition. I found it while metal detecting at home a few years ago.
