Well I just saw Another "Speared Bison" this time on a "P" on ebay. Another cool Bison Error. This looks to be a die crack in the back/butt area about 5 mm long. This sticks up from the back and also goes into the back.
I have around 20 of those I pulled out of rolls. I still have 5 rolls ro go through. I think I've found at least 3 in a roll so far. And there is another die crack/error I found on a bunch of them but my camera won't pick it up. Here is mine.
Nice find!!!!! What type of rolls did you pull those from. I bought one (speared error P) off of ebay but haven't got it yet. It looks nice , is it????
I sold one on Ebay a couple of weeks ago for $10, just to see what I would get for it. I saw another one sell for $17 today. I'm waiting for Coin World or another magazine to take notice to it. It must be a western PA error as the ohter person that sold one was from PA too. I'm hoping more show up before I sell any more.
Of course I'am going to agree with you, but I think the P version is less known right now. I see tons of the D version on Ebay but have seen very few of the P error. Hopefully that will change. Maybe the P version is rarer, I don't know.
There is a huge difference between a die gouge and a cracked die! All dies will eventually crack but the dies ARE NOT supposed to be gouged before using them. The die cracks will never realize the prices being paid for the "Speared" bison at this time.
Okay, here is a picture of the other die gouge/crack, whatever its called, Bison error I have several of. If you look in front of the right front leg, you will see the crack/gouge. It goes from the body to the front of the leg. I'm taking these pictures with a used Sony DSC-P50 digital camera with the macro lens, no flash I bought off of Ebay. The sun is my source of light. Anyways, what do you all think of this error? Is it a crack or gouge? Thanks. Bison Error
Nice find guys...Maybe one day I'll find something that is neat ;--) It will have to be already out of a roll becaue I almost never open my rolls...unless I see a unreeded rim from outside the shrink wrapper ;--) Speedy
Thanks guys. Hopefully one day something will come of these. I would like to get some of them certified/graded and see what happens.
Nick, even though it's a die crack, it's a Nice Die Crack. It would make a great "set" with your "P" and the other speared "D", and you should advertise it as such. I still think with the popular Bison and the speared aspect, you should do just fine.
Thanks. I agree it would make a great set. Although I do not have the means to buy a D speared bison right now, maybe I can sell some of these and use the money towards a D bison.
That is what I call a rip-off!!! I bet it is a bidding war because you can see how there is about 3 bidders doing all of the bidding. Two guys want it but only one can have it!!! Speedy
