I obtained this small radiate of Gordian III which should have been easy to attribute, but proved to be rather tough. Obv: IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG Rev: LIBERALIT AS AVG III Diam:21mm Weight:4.7g I am quite certain this isn't a provincial coin. The radiate crown then denotes either a dupondius, or an antoninianus. However, it is obviously way too small to be a dupondius, but is not silver enough to be an ant. Also, the only Liberalitas reverses that end in -AVG III on Wildwinds are the silver ants and laureate sestertii. I know I'm missing something obvious.
Sorry for the obvious, but in my ignorance of what modules looked like as late as this, I'm Really Wanting it to be a smallish dupondius.
I think it is an antoninianus where the base metal content has corroded and ruined the coin. I have a Septimius Severus denarius that is literally green because of the same phenomenon.
Interesting thought that it's a fourree. I didn't think about that, as there appears to be a pretty decent dark green patina.
