Yesterday the Tetradrachm of Herennius Etruscus I recently won at auction arrived, pictured below. Although his coins are considered common finding choice examples are not easy. Roman Antioch, Herennius Etruscus as Caesar, AD 251, Billon Tetradrachm: 26 mm, 10.88 gm, 8 h, 5th Officina. McAlee 1053c, Prieur 636 (who cites 22 examples). The young prince commanded the first army in response to the Gothic invasion. He was elevated to co-emperor in May of 251, and with his father Trajan Decius, both had initial success fighting the Goths. A month later both father and son were killed fighting the soldiers of the Gothic King Kniva. The coin of his younger brother Hostilian, pictured below, I acquired earlier this year. Hostilian remained in Rome while his brother and father fought the Goths, and when the news of their deaths reached Rome, Hostilian was made co-emperor with Trebonianus Gallus. A few months later Hostilian died of the black plague. Roman Antioch, Hostilian as Caesar, AD 251, Billon Tetradrachm: 27 mm, 11.74 gm, 8 h, 7th Officina. McAlee 1160e, Ex. Rare, Prieur 652, only 2 coins cited. If any CT members would like to post coins of the brothers you're welcome to .

R.C. Those are 2 great looking coins . The toning on Herennius gives it great eye appeal . These guys really look like brothers don't they.
Ocat, That's very interesting . And yes I do believe in telepathy, especially after having telepathic experiences with my late twin brother Henry .

A.A., That's a handsome hefty bronze of Herennius . The portrait on your coin looks remarkably like my Tet, which should be no surprise .
