I am trying to determine if my coin is a fake or not. What is the correct weight this coin should be? The rotation is normal when you spin it from left to right they are opisite each other. I don't see the "Holes in the hair bun" it has 13 stars. HELP???? let me know what to look for. Thanks everyone!!!!
There are more things to look for than it is possible to list. The only way to be sure is to have to coin authenticated.
Well The weight seems to be correct using a hanging postal scale. Approx 27 grams And the Photo... Funny you should ask I signed off and took about 30 pictures and can't seem to get a clear shot. I have to figure out what the trick is to getting a good picture. I have a sony cyber shot 3.2 mega pixel camera and I don't know if it lighting or if I am getting to close to try and get details. Any suggestion?? I would love to now what the trick is.
If you have a Macro lens use it...if not hold a magnifing glass right over the lens and take photos that way. Speedy
Your best bet is to post good, clear large pictures of the obverse and reverse. We probably won't be able to confirm it's authenticity, but might be able to determine that it's a fake. If you can't post the necessary pictures, then see below... LINK (click here)
What is a macro lens? Is it a setting or an additional add on? I do have magnifing glasses I will try those and see what happens. Thanks!!
Most of the better digital cameras have a Macro setting - read your manual. The macro setting allows the camera to focus up close - sometimes as close as 1/4 inch.
dont read ur manual, just hit options or menu on the camera and turn it on or u might have to hit the left, right, up or down button to find it or atleast on mine u do
WOW the glass is a cool trick here are 2 quick shots I will play with the camara and see if I can get some better ones. Thanks for the advice!!!!
Bought it from a cranky coin dealer I see at all the local shows. Sell SEGS slabs watches and jewelery and always is complaining about how no one in the room ever has money. I actually traded him for it. Told him I liked type coins and he offered it to me.
Since you are trying to upload them I will assume you know about the Manage Attachments button. Do it again - but DO NOT click on the Preview button this time. Just click on Sumit Reply. If you still have problems - email the pics to me and I will post them for you gdjmsp@qwest.net
If your camera is like Spiders then you can do like he says but if its not more than likely yours will be something eles. Speedy
I have resized the pictures lets just see if I can get them posted. they are not the best but I am making progress.
I would say the coin is almost certainly a fake. For one thing - there are only about 20 known to exist. But see that arc on the obverse that follows under and through the line of stars - that's no die crack.
Only 20??--the Red Book says that there were 509,000 minted? I agree with you on the "die crack" that it doesn't look like any I have seen. Speedy
