I couldn't agree more and have had a long standing interest in ancients but they nice ones seem to be way out of my price range. The Aureo & Calico sale today has some of the finest fractional reales I have ever seen and funds mean I have to choose - hopefully I will get one and hope that there are more amazing half and one reales buried in collections somewhere!

One example to prove how prices are insane, I won a FDC AV 1633 K-B Dukat from Hungary/ HRE Ferdinand II for 3400euros =Polish Zlotys in 2016. A similar coin realized 13K euros in Slovak auction 2019! Soon it will be a hobby for the super rich.

Yes, Bern was named after the "Brown Bear":)
In 1798, the French army invaded Bern under First Consul/ Napoleon Bonaparte. It regained its independence after Napoleon was defeated at Leipzig in 1813.
