Hey Everyone! I am new to serious Coin and Paper Money Collecting (and obviously my serious if different from some of yours) lol. As for paper money all I have is a Silver Cert which seems to be a dime a dozen, and I have a 2$ red seal I bought off ebay for cheap in not very good condition. And as for coins I have a lot of stuff that isn't graded and a small set that is! Now to my point! I was wondering if anyone has any banknotes or Coins Graded or UnGraded, That are good starter pieces and are fairly cheap. My Favorites so far are all banknotes! and for Coins Mercury Dimes, Morgans and Libertys!
It seems as if you are of to the right start. I suggest buying a few books (if you don't have many already) on coins/paper money before diving straight into buying. When I started, all I wanted to do was buy buy buy, but after I researched and read about prices, grading, history, etc., I found a few areas in numismatics that interested me. Find something that interests you, research that, and hopefully start a collection based on what you truly like. Iam from Southern Chester County BTW :smile Greg
Can you suggest some books? I have none! I used to be stationed at Willow Grove Air Reserve Base! Before it was BRAC'd!!!! I Work in Harrisburg now!
Definately get the ANA Grading Guide 6th Edition , and a Red book you willuse them a lot . For coins you can check the open section for people selling coins . rzage
Is there any good online pricing resources? Particularly World coins? I have a lot of World Coins handed down to me, I could sell and buy stuff I enjoy, they're kinda boring!
Welcome SrA! I hope you make SSgt soon. Try the redbook for coins, not sure what book to use for paper money as its not my specialty. Like merc dime also. Enter my contest there's a nice one up for grabs. Buy the highest quality you can afford. MSgt Johnson
Try the 2009 Black Book for US Paper Money. That book would give you a clear picture of paper money. As for world coins, I have no clue!
