No it came from a fellow collector on another site , I have several already graded MS but nor PF like
Proof-like is an attribute for mint state coins. Are you confusing a proof coin with a proof-like coin?
Then, why are you asking about the terms "proof-like" and "mint state" in your other thread? https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1964-nickel-proof-need-grade-please.368712/#post-4960853
how do you know this isn't a proof strike to begin with? I mean in 1963 they had no mintmark and the proof set was made in Philadelphia Mint. my opinion, it's not MS, it not prooflike, it is a proof.
I agree with both of you, but @SensibleSal66 seems to be confused about the meaning of the term "proof-like". I couldn't make him understand. Maybe you will. Thanks, Chris
No I'm not . And I'm right here , very disrespectful ! I have a college degree in Business / Sociology . So I'm not stupid, far from it Pal .
Being stupid and being confused are two different things. If you didn't understand my explanation of "proof-like", why didn't you just say so? If I had been disrespectful, I wouldn't have tagged you in my previous post. I would have just made mean & nasty insinuations about you without bringing you into the conversation with a tag.
There are two types of "Proof Like" coins although one types is much more common for US coins 1. Mint issued Proof Like these are holder by TPGS as PLXX (I know for exsample coins from a Canadain Proof like set will be so graded) 2. Mint state coins with great fields these are MS XX PL To my knowledge the US mint have never struck coins sold as "Proof Like" and for sure did not in 1963 thus a 1963 nickel would if proof like would be in the second category. I wonder if the original poster may have been confused if they are more into world coins. Also very happy to be corrected if the US ever issued "Proof Like" Set (I don't believe the SMS were called proof like)
