Off center strike

    No doubt about this one... this is a 70% off center strike... would be worth more with full date but I thought I’d show it off

    If it's Copper it's between 1959 and 1982
    If it's Copper Plated Zinc its between 1982 and 2008

    Oh and.. that is more like 60% - 70% Off Center
    Definitely not 90%

    I don't see any evidence of the underlying zinc layer, so I'm guessing that it is 95% copper.

    They are called Transitional Errors. Left over Copper Planchets from 1982 that were struck in 1983.
    If your 1983 weighs 3.11 grams then you have one.

    Almost impossible to find one.

    I believe that 1982 was the year that was split between 95% copper pennies and 97.5% zinc pennies.
