1957 D Lincoln Wheat Penny-What is this Obverse Error?

    Hi guys,

    I have this 1957 D Lincoln Wheat penny with die chips in the date and a large crack on the right side of the penny running from top to bottom rim. Can someone explain what this is?

    I see a few lamination flakes near the bottom right rim below the date.

    That would be a Planchet Error known as a Lamination Crack. You had half the answer!
    When you mentioned lamination flakes.

    It's a nice lamination crack. It's worth a little extra but not a lot. They are nice to find and keep but the value is low.
