:smile Hi, im new here, and trying to learn more about my coins. I have a Hemiobol of Cleopatra VII, minted in Paphos, 35 BC. That is all i know about the coin. Im at work, so I cant post pics, but can anyone tell me anything else about this coin. I cant seem to find any history about it or anything..
maybe acanthite or our new expert stainless will be able to answer. I am too ancient for the ancients
An expert? I'm flattered:smile. Thanks for the compliment..lol..even though I have much more to learn (especially with fakes). To the OP, First off, welcome to the forum..stick around..this is a fun place The coin should be similar to this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Hemiobol-of-Cleopatra-VII,-minted-in-Paphos,-35-BC_W0QQitemZ250351999691QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090105?IMSfp=TL090105124004r37692 Bronze OBV; Zeus Rev: Zues standing, holding stalks of grain with a star above Depending on the condition of yours, it could be in the same value range as this one..or more if in better condition. I'm not too sure if this is a commonly faked coin, nor do I have that much knowledge with Greek coinage outside of the Gorgana Medusa Coinage..so hopefully someone will come around to help you further. hope this helped a little. stainless
For once, you said something even Doug can agree with! I wonder if he will pipe in on this one or just chuckle and move on? Ribbit Ps: Welcome to CoinTalk, Nicy! :hail: I'm the resident old copper lover so I'm not much help with this one.
