I won a bunch of coins from my uncle at our christmas drawling. I have some that are from 1859 to 1968 from canada, peru, france and us. i am very lost and looking for some help please.. thank you melissa
hello Melissa, welcome to the CT please post a description for the coins and the folks here would be able to help u out. Pics are even better and would go a long way in solving any Qs.
Pictures would help a million as to deciding what they are worth on how good of condition they are in. But here is what i can say: -The 22 dollar is a Peace Dollar, and the S represents the San Fransisco mint which it was struck at. It is worth upwards of $10 depending on condition. -I am assuming the 1859 Large cent is from canada? If so, again depending on condition it can be worth upwards of $3. -Not sure about the 1900 2 cent because the US only made 2 cent coins from 1864-1873. Maybe it is a different country or you have the date mixed up?
You really need a macro mode on your camera to be able to focus on them. You could always try scanning them if you have a scanner.
Scanning always works for me, be sure to put something behind the coin to eliminate any unneeded glare though.
Melissa, don't get the wrong idea about Spock, he isn't a lady. That is one thing Spock has never been accused of. :mouth: Now as to the pics, I'm not sure if he meant coins or you? :kewl: He hasn't seen a girl in a long time so it's hard to tell what he meant. But it would help tons to have pics of the coins, to be able to give you a better idea of value on them. Ribbit Ps: Welcome to CoinTalk! :hail:
Hi Melissa and welcome to CoinTalk, have a go at scanning your coins dont worry if you do not get it right 1st time have a bit of fun using different settings till you find the right one for you You can get some quite good results
De orc, i see that you also have trouble getting the shine/glossiness from a scanner. I've tried tilting the coins and still no good results. Anyone know how to solve this difficulty besides buying an expesive camera?
