Dino-lite AM 3011 which is comparable to AM 3111 , It's a variable USB scope. It's variable magnification. 10x - 220x
That could be part of your issue, that model has a .3 megapixel (not 3 but point 3 megapixel) camera. Any magnification to that is going to distort images.
I think this is the issue, the megapixels are too low and so the pictures appear grainy and have no details because of that limitation.
@Razz i agree. @SensibleSal66 it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. A basic point and shoot for under 50 bucks is going to have 10-12 megapixels, now how the zoom is controlled, (optical or digital), has macro setting etc and etc, the list gets long and rabbit hole deep. Only you can decide what you want to spend and for what purpose. If just coins to post online you don’t have to spend a lot of money, just something that if you crop or enlarge doesn’t distort..even an older 5-6 megapixel will do that for online stuff.
Run Rabbit Run....Dig that hole...catch the sun.. It's digital :https://www.microscope.com/dino-lite-am3111-0-3mp-digital-microscope-with-owl-pellet-kit.html
It has a 30 day money back guarantee, maybe you can trade it in for something with a higher megapixels resolution...
I take my pictures with an old iPad... iPad Air 2... and I get some pretty good pics. Here’s some examples...
