I personally find it rare to find any circulated coin, not to mention a 25 year old one, in any kind of notable condition. So I'd like to make it notable.
A 25 year old one? More like 35 unless I missed something in math class. It is nice looking for its age.
You were class of '85, weren't you, Sal? (If my math hasn't failed me.) Class of '84, myself. Nice one, to have come out of circulation. I never would have given a 1980s cent much of a second thought, even if it were a nice UNC like this. But as time marches on, I suppose it's inevitable. I do pay attention when I find a BU coin from the 1960s or '70s now. Sometimes I'll set 'em aside, until they eventually get put back in with my change. I guess the '80s coins will get their due before long. RIP, Eddie Van Halen.
you need to stamp it now with a chop mark or something to celebrate. matter of fact, start stamping all the coins your check with a serial number so you know if you've had them before
I know, right?? Reading those posts from my contemporaries reminded me just how old I was! I thought I was already old in 1985!
Me and my fellow coin buddies in the late 1960’s were in hog heaven when we managed to find a wheat cent. Will the memorial cents ever have that kind of mystique?
Yea, I think there may have been a day that, that actually happened to me. I'm trying to figure out where those years went.
Someone will still appreciate a wheat cent hundreds of years from now if his story stays true. The metal let's us not forget. "The idol is appraised, the memory is priceless". You guys are awesome. Thanks.
It was different when each cent you set aside represented a piece of candy you wouldn't get. Pennies in general just aren't as significant now.
