You should also mention the weight (it will be normal).

I found a dime that only has the reverse side inside a roll of dimes just the other day

Your best bet for getting an answer is to start a new thread with pictures.

I wish we could see what happened with the OP's auction, but since he hasn't been back since 2008...

bryantallard show me the money....so i can look through it

it SHOULD go up over time. the older the coin gets, and no other examples like that of that year surface...it would IMO make it worth more later.
on the other hand....if more of those were reported with the same year and mint it could potentially bring the value down. the whole supply and demand thing. if 2 people REALLY REALLY want that coin, who knows what I can sell for.

as an after thought....how many of that year from that mint were minted can play a factor. so a low mintage coin would be worth more than a high mintage coin.

Have a dime that has no print on the back but only lettering and one strike in the middle with three small dots of copper

We can't really tell you anything without photos, but it's almost certain that someone ground off part of your dime's reverse. Please post clear, in-focus photos if you can.

Yo Red. Good for you for doing some research on what you found. Put up a new thread or this will fade back into history where it started over a decade ago.

This looks like a full brockage strike to me. There may have been two blank planchets loaded into the press. This would cause a coin like you have. Yes, they will have added value. The best think to do would be to have the coin graded by one of the top third-party graders to both verify that it is genuine and to protect it. Congrats.

I think the Mint ran out of ink :hilarious:

Dear Newbies, coins are not printed. They are struck/minted.. Paper Currency uses ink and they are printed! o_O
