Counterstamped Large Cent-Rare

I turned the second photo so the Counterstamp is easily readable. This is an 1846 Large Cent and it's Counterstamped McKenny Gunsmith Biddeford. I find Counterstamped very interesting and one must admit that it was free advertising. I'm told this is a rare Counterstamp.

Interesting . Long time since I've seen one of these .

 

I have a small number of them, all with different counterstamps.

 

That Biddeford is in Maine. Very nice piece.

 

I've driven though there . Visited Maine every year since I was kid .

 

I live near Biddeford. Always liked going there because the youth hockey team sucked so I got to have fun. That's back when I could still play

 

It would be a little better if the owner used the cent for target practice after...

Actually, maybe he tried but was just a lousy shot and missed... Who knows?
