NH Quarter error - Anyone know what kind of error this is , and/or approximate value

Hello again, i've got a new find. a NH quarter with some kind of smaller ring marked on it. It's got a slight bevel to it, so i think it is a striking error of some kind. what do you think? the other side of the coin is normal.

Is the ring raised or below the surrounding surface of the quarter?

The coin was at some point on the end of a roll, which left the mark on one side. Sorry, but not an error.

Hello Chris, I believe this was caused by some kind of coin machine. I do have several but do you think I can find them now?!

This one below is on the obverse of a Delaware. Not as dramatic as yours but still the same thing...I believe. If I'm wrong I'll be corrected.

    Guys:
    Post mint damage.
    Not an error.
Spend it, or keep it as a curosity.

    No value.

$00.25 cents a gumball mach or a coin counter made the marks

Yeah, I wondered about counter damage too, hence my question.
    But Chris said:
Counter damage doesn't create a raised mark on a coin.
Can you get a closer shot? I took your photo and resolved some details. Interesting how at the arrow this mark has the same highlight/shadow direction as the devices.

Look where it sliced through the O on OR. It's a vending machine mark...I see them quite often.

I'm going to hold off until I see better details, as one area below appears to be relief.

Some types of Coin Rolling Machines leave these marks of the end coins in a roll that is being rolled! These have some type of roller or claw to hold the coins tight from each end while the ends of the paper roll are being secured.

Of course part looks like it's raised above the surface of the coin. If you dig into the surface of the coin with the edge of a coin roll crimper (likely to be your culprit) the metal that moved has to go somewhere - it moves towards the edge of the damage.

That's one indication when you're dealing with post-mint damage. Look at the edge of the damaged area for evidence that the material was disturbed. If it wasn't, it MIGHT not be post-mint damage.

Yeah--I've seen post-mint counter damage many times before. But I also wanted to confirm with Chris about the nature of the mark, since he said it was "slightly raised with a beveled edge". I'm trying to account for everything, because I don't see a lot of good information from the photo (imo). A false negative is just as easy as a false positive, especially when hard data is scarce. Just being even-handed here...not stupid, lol. :rolling:

Anyway, I hope Foundinrolls drops by for his .02; I asked him to take a look.

But the coin is being lit from the upper left. As the light reflects off the right hand wall of the groove it will be highlighted as well.

Right, there's that possibility. I suppose I was trying to pursue an interesting angle on this, given what the OP said. Otherwise this is like everyone said--a damaged coin that's not worth discussing. :D I know I have nothing left to add, lol.
