I have noticed offer for sale of sets (such as 2020 Parks Clads) for less than the mint is selling a set. Also, shipping is free or very low cost. There is no box or COA. How do they do that?

Also, there are sellers which are offering Parks W mint mark coins. Not so unusual except these seller have an inventory of 350/400 coins for sale. I can't imagine looking thru thousands of rolls to get this hoard of coins for sale. How do they do it?

It is like they have an in at the Mint or in the case of the sets, they assemble them for the Mint, and keep the rejects for themselves to sell.

    What do you think?

The first one: the seller buys many proof sets and then sell the coins in parts (just the Quarters for example) or even individually.

The second one: some sellers do search thousands of rolls in order to have a large enough quantity to sell; other sellers offer to buy any examples found by the public and then they resell them

When the 2011 ASE Anniversary 5 pc set came out there was a household limit of 5. I got 5 and was negotiating with a dealer for some coins that he broke out. He showed me a photo of his office with hundreds of sets and unopened boxes against the wall. This was a few days after the release.

As for the W's ....they don't seem to be scattered far and wide. Last spring I was at my grocery store, the clerk gave me change and I noticed a weir park W. I bought the rest of his quarters from his till and I got 9 more W's. I then started buying rolls from the Customer service counter and they were pure Weir farms and I ended up with over 60 W's from them. The next week they got more solid weir farms rolls. Bought some rolls and they had the Samoa Bat W's in with them. Kept buying rolls and ended up with 40 +samoa W's from that box. Eventually I started trading them common rolls for their New rolls since I didn't want them to stop selling to me because they were getting low. The point is, I think the W's are dumped in the rolling machine bins all at once and get concentrated in certain boxes. It;s just luck of the draw.

The W coins are not mixed well or randomly distributed. Apparently they simply put a scoop or two in the top of the ballistic bag after they are filled (I know they did that on the first couple issues last year, I would not be surprised if they just continued that procedure.) This means that the first boxes rolled from the bag will be very heavy in W coins with later boxes having fewer and fewer until eventually probably boxes from the last half of the bag having none.

Dealers also have large numbers of collectors that feed coins that they find to them. So you can have a large number of collectors going through boxes and selling all the W coins they find to the dealers. This allows the dealers to accumulate a large stock. The same thing can be said about sets, even one with household limits. And of course for the sets they can have employees or even temporary hires ordering sets for them as well.

Larger dealers may even be buying ballistic bags either from the mint (collectors can do that too but it is a real headache to do so for the average person) or from the armored car services.

yeppers. That first link, the guy is buying the whole clad proof set and just selling the quarter lens in his listing.

he's grading and selling the rest of the set including the W freebies as individuals in his ebay store, even the silver quarters, just not the clad ones, which I guess he has a hard time selling or the clad ones are that profitable.

the W quarter guys, people roll hunt and can get multiple boxes. also it could be a bank insider that's grabbing the new boxes as they come in.

My LCS searched several boxes as did a couple of his clients, he was selling all he could gather to a dealer in the Dallas area.
