Since every rusty hinge or unidentifiable old piece of metal (probably dug out of someone's backyard) is listed on Ebay as a genuine "Viking Artifact" I'd go with that. So I think it's an ancient Viking kidney stone strainer probably peed on by Odin himself!

Seriously though, it looks like an ancient Celtic/Germanic-tribe doodad pilfered from a barbarian grave by a Roman soldier named Rufus Doodadicus, if not it's probably a nipple ring from Urartu.

Interesting piece. What is the weight? Where did you buy it? What did the seller call it?
I'd vote for a coffee filter in an early Cappuccino machine.
It could be a coin weight, jewelry or votive item.

    2.9 gr.
    Ebay, way of France.
Pendant to be determined. And that was translated from French:artist:
I tried it in the cappuccino machine and the French roast was so French, it tried to make out with me:kiss:

@Ryro, only to emphasize that the French is more diplomatic, more like, '[for you] to determine.' The nuance is more like saying, 'I don't know; you figure it out!' ...It's what they do instead of guessing, like you might see in other contexts. (Right, this thread included, but....)
...Betting that if you tried it in a French press, the net result would be no less interesting....

I was gonna say a Peloponnesian nose-picker, but I like @Numisnewbiest’s answer better. Ping-pong in Valhalla! Watch out for those Valkyries- they have a mean serve!

It is pretty obvious that this piece was part of the outer housing of a direction finder (or compass) from the early 13th Century.
The divots around the outside should have numbered 36 (every 10 degrees.) The fact that there are only 33 indentations, on this piece, make it relatively certain that this probably was owned by Eric the Red's hapless brother, Oleg the Lost, sometimes known as Wrong Way Oly.
The 3 pin-pricks were someone's attempt to add the missing three indentations.
