Another worn coin but given its age, 232 years, it's not in bad shape. This was listed as rare, rarity 5. The second photo shows a tiny rim clip at 2 pm. I was told this is M 4.1 K. I'm also told less than 100 pieces are known. These are the best photos I can get with my cell as that's all I have.
Hard to see . Is it a CT ( Connecticut) copper ? I wish I could see it . Here's my 1787 CT Copper for comparison also. Your Bust is facing right. Post more pics and I will identify . >
It's really too hard to tell what Miller Number you have. It really doesn't matter it seems to the grading companies. They give it a date and tell which way the bust is facing and then grade it. That's pretty much . It's definitely a find of lifetime but unfortunately it would get a ED grade with details . I estimate it to be in G - Good condition . Not bad after being in the ground. Like some reading? I have links . let me know. Once again, congrats on your find .
Connecticut actually, although this like most of the 1788 varieties was minted at Machin's mill in Newburgh NY. 4.1-K is currently listed as an R5, from there up is where Connecticuts start to get interesting.
I actually have a Machin Mills that I found but it's too far gone to photograph, but I'l try. I thinks it's a 1747 ? Maybe 1787 now I read. https://coins.nd.edu/ColCoin/ColCoinText/Machin.1.html
