The coin has a few light hairlines from an older cleaning but it's still an AU Details coin. In hand you can still see some Mint Luster. I consider the cleaning to be a light one. Only 2,834,000 were minted. A fairly low mintage by today's standards but it is on the high side for this series. This is a variety 1, Resumed with the weight standard of Variety 2. Variety 1 had a weight of 13.36 grams while Variety 2 was set at 12.44 grams.
One of the more common dates for the type, like you mentioned, and then there's the cleaning, but the strong details on that one make it a fairly valuable piece. I owned an ANACS AU50 (old small holder) 1842 once. I couldn't afford an AU nowadays. That one I had wasn't cleaned like your coin, but it was rather scuffy and bagmarked. Seated dollars are good any way you can get 'em. And that one is better than a great many of them.
