What’s up with this 1983 Penny??

    Looks like zinc rot, it is only worth 0.01¢.

    1982 was the year the Mint last made copper Cents and starting minting Zinc Cents. Zinc is a horrible metal for coins. Yours is suffering from zinc rot, a very common thing on Cents. These is an extreme thin layer of copper and many things happen with these Zinc Cents.
