Welcome to CT , Are you referring to the early slabs where the coins rattled in the holder ?

Thanks. I just hope someone has some of the really tough dates in circulated grades, or I might as well collect buttons. I bet there aren't many 1893 s coins still around in these old holders.

It would really be interesting to see if PCGS had any records to indicate how many coins and what dates they graded back then. Of course with crack outs you would not know how many there were today.

You are probably right. I doubt that it would be possible to complete a set in the old first generation holders. But if you could, wow, what a set!!!!

A quick check of Pop Reports from back then would answer that question.

There are always a few on E-Bay, but you have to figure there are some out there, maybe in a bank box or a closet. I guess the trick would be to be in the right place at the right time.

Mine are in the bank also. But there's always somebody who keeps there coins at home and hope no one finds out.

Can you get pop reports from back then online?

I would love to be able to go to FUN and go to the floor.

No. Only way you could get info like that is if someone had saved it, or if perhaps the info had been published in a book from the time.

Doesn't someone on here have a way back machine, or does it not go back that far?

I have spreadsheets built for some coins, but not many. And none of them go back that far.
