(This is my 2nd coin out of the 2)
I am super excited to find out whether or not I have a rare 1982 copper covered zinc small date doubled die reverse! I've been holding on to two coins and just haven't found the time to take pics and put them online. I've been anticipating it to the point where I won't be too disappointed if I'm wrong, just relieved to have an answer finally.

By the way, I would like to add that most of my post from here on out is simply rambling and became waaay longer then I expected. So this is my disclaimer and it wont hurt my feelings if you stop reading here and head straight to the bottom to see the pictures I attached

I guess I'm going to do this by making two posts separately. 1 post for each coin and maybe I'll get lucky with positive feedback! I would very much appreciate if any of you could give me advice, thoughts, criticism etc.

So here is one of the two. I would like to mention that taking pics of coins from all angles and finding the correct lighting it's not as easy as it seems! Lol, I really feel like it's all about the lighting.

Anyways, I was referring to the pictures on variety Vista and so I did take quite a few pictures (which if you've read any of my past posts, that's really nothing new (lol) ) I tried mimicking how variety vista has close ups from all angles. I did my best attempting to do the same.

I've read over many other posts over the past year or two, as well as the different responses others left, and there have been two or three that I remember that commented quite negatively on the person's post and the pics they attached. Some people can be pretty harsh! Lol, I was taken aback by a few mean people. Since then I'm always wondering in the back of my mind the whole time Im ever creating a post of my own. I worry that maybe Im going to get chewed out by someone that's super picky and insists I shorten my post/pics. But then after going back and forth in my head I always come back to what I really believe I should do. My pics aren't always the best with the focusing or zooming in. I wish I could get pictures that are as crisp as one ive seen online. So quite honestly I'd rather overdo it and make sure people see what I see instead of not posting but two or three pictures and lack capturing that one angle that makes it a dead giveaway for someone to confirm. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Alrighty, well thank you for letting me ramble. Lol, I feel like this has been almost like my morning journal entry of the day. Please let me know what your thoughts are about this coin!

Yeah, the letters have to be doubled the same height and not shelf-like. Also the pillars on yours are normal . Look at those photo's again and you'll see.

I feel like when zoomed in I can even see split serifs especially on the " E Pluribus Unum".
I'm definitely no pro though so thank you for anyone weighing in. I really appreciate your time

I knew it was one of the 3 types

  16. I search quarters almost everyday. At 1st I was finding & keeping mostly vague errors with an occasional obvious & cool ones. I have done a bit research & realize that the best "keepers" are nice looking coins with very obvious defects. Last night I found an obvious DDO, actually tripling of George Washington's left nose. Just keep going through those pennies because if you find that one cool error, you will do a happy dance!

Proper etiquette is to create a thread for your coin.

George Washington has two noses? What does the right nose look like?

No listing for a DDO in the 1990-P 25c on either Wexler or VarietyVista... Would that make it MD?

Not a match with anything at Variety Vista. I see glare, reflection, pixelation and wear. It is a small date, what does it weigh?

Your “shotgun” approach to pics is redundant. If you suspect doubling then find a match at Wexler or VV, otherwise, it isn’t. All you need is a close-up of the suspected doubling. Full obverse and reverse helps also and maybe a pic of a die marker to confirm.

Keep in mind minor doubling, when you find it, also does not carry much of a premium. If you find a coin that matches doubling from Wexler or VV, then you research the value for that particular attribution and decide if you want to sell or not.

Try to keep your text about the coin and to the point you are trying to make about it. Long, rambling text is hard to read and will get glossed over.

    Hope this helps...Spark. @BlondeWhit
