I have been brought 6 more coins in the market for verification and possible purchase. All are outside my comfort zone, so I can I beg some assistance again?
First is identified on it's ticket as Ptolemy I Tetradrachm. Weighs 11.96g and measures about 23mm across. Is this correct ID, and any reason it should not be right? Ptolomy I 1-horz.jpg

Justin Lee I learn by doing

I feel this is similar to the other one you posted, Ptolemy X or so, and he used the image of Ptolemy I on obverse.

I thought AR tetradrachms were usually around 16g. Could this be a different denomination?

No ptolemaic tets are on the Ptolemaic weight standard of c 12.6 gm for a crisp early example. Weight seems fine for a later battered example.

To me the portrait looks wrong for Ptolemy I Soter, but thats just a gut feel. I may be wrong

    Hi,

This is a coin of Ptolemy XII, Cleopatra's father, that uses a stylized portrait of Ptolemy I. It is regnal year 18.

Reference: Svoronos 1865, pl. lxii, 19 [17 listed]; SNG Copenhagen 389.
