There is a ebay seller:the.treasure.source. that sells alot of toned morgan dollars and alot of them look pretty nice and are decent prices but I am wondering if anyone can tell if most of these are artificial toning or natural. Thank you
Okay, first time for everything -- I checked the seller's listings, and I don't see anything that makes me suspicious. But wait for people with more experience than I have. (I was expecting this was one of the usual suspects who buys up coins and trashes them. Doesn't look like it, at least to me.)
You aren't going to get any responses in this thread without a link to his inventory so here it is. the.treasure.source inventory After glancing at his inventory, most of the coins look fine with original toning. There is a 1935-S Peace Dollar that has clearly been polished and developed some ridiculous rainbow toning on the obverse. I don't have a problem with him selling the coin but in the item description he states both that the coin has graffiti and has been cleaned, yet that information is not included in the title. Instead, he used the word "inscription" and didn't mention the cleaning/polishing. I would ensure that I read the entire listing, including his item descriptions before buying any raw coins from him.
