Great story, coin newbie! There are two shops near me - one is mainly a bullion dealer with little type inventory but will sell at greysheet and the other has great inventory, but will not offer anything less than full retail.

Oh well, they don't have Conders anyway.

Great story! Wish my "first" experience at a coin shop was that good maybe it wouldn't have soured me so in attempting to find others.

I'm not surprised at the number of bad dealers. It makes sense to me. For one, I think many don't really know how or just don't care how to run a business. Some have become wealthy enough to where they don't care about making money. Some it's their personal collections and they don't care about selling. Some have been at it for decades. They don't want to 'work'. They'd rather bs with their buddies and deal with people they know will come in and lay down serious cash.

It's no different than teachers. Every town has teachers that have been at it and beat down for 30 years. They get burnt out and should just retire.

If you're rushing customers out the door because you want to close early, it's time to throw in the towel. The guy obviously isn't enjoying it anymore.

I second what someone else said. Just because somebody wants to be buddy buddy, doesn't automatically make them a good guy. I'd be suspicious for a while until I got to know him better.
