One of the guys in my local coin club bought one and brought it in for me to look at after I told him that I was really interested in the set. It is absolutely gorgeous up close. The display box has to be one of the best display cases the mint has ever produced. I would love to own one as well. Maybe if they are still around after tax season, I may get one if I get a return.

That is an awesome set. Don't know if I have the money right now for that. But, it seems like a great way to get two 1/2 oz. gold coins.

Here is some updated info from elain1907's post in the UHR thread that is pretty relevant, imo.

Prosperity Set - 7,360 (will sell out this week)

2008 W American Gold Eagle 1/2 oz. unc. - 12,718 (very near sell out, part of prosperity set and single 1/2 oz).

2008 W American Gold Buffalo 1/2 oz unc. - 16,960 (will sell out this week, part of prosperity set).

Shed light on it ? I really don't think you want my opinion. Spending $1225 for $980 worth of gold ?

That works out to what, $245 for the box? It's a nice box, but is it that nice?

Though I'd love this thing if the premium wasn't so much. I'd be willing to pay maybe a 10% premium or so... but not more than that.

    Is it really only $980?

The 1/2 ounce buffalo has been sold out for months and is going for a premium. I've seen it sell for $600 raw. So for $380 for a 1/2 2008 w gold eagle ....not to shabby.
