Spidey Man.. Excel is the way to go.. you can even put in formulas to track your initial investment, costs for supplies, books..whatveer you want. You can even add in pictures, create charts showing what you have or need.. it is a very powerful spreadsheet...Good luck..

Hey, "if it is easy, it's not worth doing" (Dilbert I think, or his pointy-haired boss). Use Access - you can spend few pleasant days programming input forms, integrity constraints and somesuch. In the end you will get the same think you coud get playing with Excel for 5 minutes...

Well if ya think that's bad - I'm gonna make another suggestion altogether

I prefer a program called Coin Elite. It's made especially for coins and has all the features you ever imagine built right in. It provides all the information on the coins like mintage, value, dates and mint marks - all you have to do is pick the one ya want - click on it and presto ! And yes it allows you to upload your own pics.

It's not free though, $60 - Excel is, but you gotta do all the work.

I would (here I go again) get a Red Book and use the page of Nickels and check off the dates as you get them...it makes for a nice list.

Excel is okay, but it's only a spreadsheet. If you know how to use a database program, that would be better.

I prefer and use "Collector's Assistant Plus" software to track my collections. Pretty much everything that pertains to US coins, mintage, value, dates, my investment costs plus the current value of the collections. Can be backup to cd or DVD. Around $70.00. For an extra $40.00 or so you can purchase the Grading Assistant that works with the collector program.

No you wouldn't---at the bottem of the page there is a little bit of room where you could keep it up todate...also it has all of the other coins in it so you could keep track of all of your coins.
