    Hi All,
I recently found what I believe to be the 1957 proof quadrupled die obverse 5c listed in the Cherrypicker's Guide as FS-035.8 or FS-05-1957-101 and CONECA 4-O-II+VI. Can anyone confirm it? Also, any idea as to current value? It is still in the proof packaging making the pictures tough to take.

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion- I had looked at that and saw what I thought was die scratches in the right place, but without a picture to compare to I find die markers generally hard to match up.

Yeah, Coneca really needs to get on the boat and post pictures with the RPM and Doubled Die Varieties as well as pics to go along with the description of Die Markers!

What more do you want...a curving die scratch in middle of collar should be enough!

Do you realize how many photos it would take to cover all the listings and stages for evreything in the CONECA listings?

Well, generally for me, assuming I even have the same die state, matching up with a written description of markers is a necessary but not sufficient condition to ID a variety. Perhaps on proofs this is less of an issue but on business strikes it is confusing to me.

It certainly is a daunting prospect- nevertheless, that's basically what coppercoins.com has done for some series of US coins.

Is Coneca correct when they say there is a population of one?
    Which would now be 2?

    Hi,

    No,

Coneca's population reports only include what is reported to them.

There is no way to ever know how many of something is out there.

For example, i have coins here that if reported would change many of the numbers quite a bit.

There are many coins sitting in collections that people don't know about.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Very nice. You might want to have this post moved to the "Variety Nickels" section.
