physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Coin designs get old, and they get replaced. It's happened over and over throughout our history. No coin design is intended to last forever - and I'm sure he knew that when he was the engraver. We've had the same design on the eagle for 35 years now. I'd say that's a pretty good run.

Besides, it isn't like he did anything for this: he copied the Walker, and he copied the Great Seal. Mercanti did nothing original for the Silver Eagle.

You are, of course, correct. Simpleton that I am, however, I am happy with just one of the new coins—ahem, just two of the new coins since the mint wants to make that so.

This reminds me of Mr Mike Mezak whose harangues on the rareness of the 2020 ASEs is such that some day they might be worth thousands, millions even maybe. As I am a light sleeper, I caught his repeat act on the History Channel early this morning, and he has made no mention, yet, of the fact that a 2021 ASE will exist with the old style reverse. Now THAT is mendacious!

I'm just not a fan of the main feature of a design leaving the canvass and appearing incomplete.

I like it, huge upgrade over the current ASE reverse and you knew the design couldn't be too complicated given how many they have to produce every year. They did a much better job than I was expecting them too

It's what another poster in this thread said of Mr Mezak. If you go back far enough you might infer that my usage here was mendacious too.

I think my courses in English were wasted. My wife was an English teacher for 30+ years, and she didn't know what it meant.

I was a student majoring in English Literature at a small college in the midwest. My major advisor was one of the most brilliant professors I ever had. He didn't know what Haiku was.

My congrats to your wife who endured 30+ years of teaching. I was disillusioned after 1 and switched to academic publishing.

Now we have another word that I don't have a clue what it is. "sesquipedallanisms" My spellcheck didn't have a clue. I KNOW that my wife doesn't know. I think we need to use 8th grade language without the four letter words, tho.

But why limit yourself to simple sesquipedalianisms when you can instead imagine semiquinpedalian neologisms? ("They're two and a half feet long!")

IMO, Still not as 'fetching' as the Weinman design.

Well, not overly excited by the designs. Hopefully it looks better in-hand. I will be a buyer to keep the set going. If they do strike some 2021's with the original reverse I think that might drive some collectors. Unlimited mintage planned? Inquiring minds want to know.

Like Fussbodenschleifmachinenverleih or Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher? I'll leave that to the Germans and their Lego-like lexicon.

I tend to prefer older coins with what I believe to be better designs.
