I have not watched an episode of the Simpsons on TV for over 20 years but tonight was flipping across the schedule and noted that Season 32, Episode 2, "I, Carumbus", was Roman based. As expected from that series, there were many jokes. People who know Rome will get them. Many here will be offended. As I post this, it has not yet run on the West Coast. Waste a half hour. https://simpsons.fandom.com/wiki/I,_Carumbus
I have never watched an episode of The Simpsons ever. It's not that I have anything against the show- heaven knows, I've absorbed enough trivia about it via pop culture osmosis. It's just one of those things I never watched, never having been a big TV watcher to begin with. All the Star Trek I ever watched was the original series, on re-runs in the 1970s. Never saw the Next Generation or any of the other spinoffs. Did see a couple of the movies, though. Game of Thrones? Nope. Never. There are a whole lot of popular shows I never saw. But that carries us astray from the topic of The Simpsons and their tie-in with Roman stuff. (I'll bet Trek did some Roman stuff in the day, surely? Dunno.)
Just watched 'I-CARVMBVS' W/Obeseus! So funny!!! Fat Tony, "Remember, there are no such thing as small wounds. Only small victims."
Just in case someone did not get that poster reference: An interesting line in the Simpson's episode came at the very end when the museum boss suggested they ban stupid people from the museum. Stultus est sicut stultus facit - I can't say I suggest you invest time in the movie. The Simpsons was on an equally high level but only a half hour.
There is an episode where Bart and Homer start collecting coins! Season 19; Episode 20, "All about Lisa".
Those who wish to avoid the misguided and wasteful Caligula and still want to see Peter O'Toole playing a Roman, check out the 1981 miniseries Masada. It's dodgy history, but a great film.

I've watched Simpsons since it was on the Tracey Ullman show, so I grew up to it. I continue to watch it and just finished this one on Hulu. It was pretty good. I do think Simpsons should have been cancelled decades ago. Out of 20+ episodes a season, maybe 5 or 6 are actually funny and the rest are fillers or just not amusing in any way. It was always a cash cow for Fox, that's why it's stayed on. Now it's Disneys...
