    Greetings :)

Found this in one of 6 rolls of Kennedy Half's I am researching for a friend. I will be buying this from her for sure. Clean doubling on "United States" as well as the wording "Half Dollar." Also on some of "America". Saw a few on eBay so what would you value this coin at? Also, is it worth having appraised?

I'm thinking this is an MS 62 or 63? Higher would be nice. At this stage I am planning on just adding it to my meager collection.. lol

Unfortunately it’s not a Doubled Die. The coin posted suffers from DDD and MD, (die deterioration doubling and mechanical doubling). It’s also not a MS coin, it’s has lots of circulation wear by your pictures. I also don’t know of any doubled die reverses for 1973-D. Here’s a good reference:

Just because it says it is not in a book does not mean it doesn't exist,I do not have a million dollars but I know it is out there hopefully in the lotto for my fam.to win lol. Good luck.

a true doubled die would have produced many pieces and would be known and documented by now

    Value? Fiddy cents.

Certification? It would be a very valuable education. Worth twice the cost of submission.

Adding to your collection is a good idea. Similar coins have SOLD on eBay found one for .99 and another for $3.50. (when correctly listed)
Your coin (as others have said) is NOT considered a Mint Error, but there are people that do collect ANY coins with doubling, being it Machine or Die deterioration.
Some are listed much higher then that, but are misrepresented as mint errors and bought (and Sold) by people who don't the difference
Grading fees would FAR surpass the coins worth.Best to put it in a flip and keep it in the collection as an interesting example, to refer to while learning the difference in true DOUBLED DIE and MD or DDD. (Hint: true doubled die coins are few and far between, but out there. So keep looking!)
