Latest Theft - Very Identifiable Coin

    Offense: Theft
    Location of offense: Denver, CO
    Investigating Agency: Denver Police Dept.


    Details:

    The coin pictured below was stolen from a dealers table at the Denver Coin Show. The suspect was a white male who identified himself as Steve Dupont and gave an Englewood, CO address.

    1853 $20 USAOG 900-Thousandths PCGS MS64

    Legit question - Do you think something like that would be sold on the black market to a collector? Or do you think it would just be melted down?

    They have the suspects name and area where he lives. This one will probably be recovered. But to answer your question, I personally think the thieves often just keep the coin, and get-off on how slick they were.

    I wonder if it is a real name/home of record.
    I know I wouldn't be that stupid....then again, I'm not dumb enough to steal a coin like that lol.
