It isn't that the design is terrible to my eyes. It is "sterile" to me.... Perhaps are these computer CAD generated designs rather than engraved designs that give them that appearance?

    Well, I don't hate it. That's a start.

What a disappointment. Yet another modern US coin (both the gold and silver eagles, actually) where the obverse and reverse do not complement each other at all.

Compare with the current design, which is sterile and stiff. They need to have a design that is easy to make cameo, reverse cameo, multi-finish "enhanced" surfaces, and perhaps colorized surfaces. Doing something interesting with the negative space makes that more difficult. I have an additional problem with the typography. Two different typefaces on the silver, a third on the gold. Hopefully they unify them.

I'd really like them to make the obverse more modern. It's a great, classic design, but let's see what an modern artist can do with it (and not just the Zombucks Walker).

It is what it is, but my complaint is that the mint will be producing both old style and new reverses. That's just stupid!

Like I've said many times before here, heraldic eagles have never done anything for me. Our national symbol should be pictured in flight or in a natural pose, not pinned like a butterfly in a display case.

That said, I think I like the old AGE reverse better than the new. The ASE reverse is a definite improvement in my opinion.

These two future offerings from the mint totally lack the grace, charm, and tradition of the cherished designs of the past. Utterly disgusting.

"The times, they are a changin." The eagle on the dollar, yuck. The eagle on the 50 dollar, meh, but much better than the dollar, IMO.
    I love Morgans!

I am an old geezer, like what I like and won't part with bucks for these new iterations.

I kind of like it, either way the silver has value. I think the reverse is an improvement. I typically agree with the "Everything New Is Bad" camp on a lot of things, however I think even if it doesn't have the tradition or charm of the older designs, we should still give it a chance. Who knows, it may end up looking a lot better on a coin than on a whit background.

how much do you think they will cost around $40-$60? when they will first be released most likely they will be overpriced in the beginning for a little while.

    Yeah .. it's "OK"
I guess I'll end up buying a tube at the beginning and then later with the new design for part of a "eagle" genre collection I have from commems to every other more modern bullion coin. Example is I've also collected the 1oz Proof Platinum Eagles that reverses are all different - but only the ones with eagles on them. ==> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Platinum_Eagle

these are the CFA/CCAC renderings , not the master hub or the dies. it really depends on how the hubs and dies work out as to how it really looks when struck.
    coinworld article from june:
    https://www.coinworld.com/news/prec...merican-eagle-reverse-designs-favored-by-ccac

it could have been this on the silver eagle:

....oh wait, they are using that on the gold eagle now instead. LOL!

From the above linked article the CCAC for the 2021 gold American Eagle to show an eagle in flight moving to the left through the rays of the sun peering over the horizon.

I think these WERE them as the contenders for the gold eagle:

So I guess they took the one on the left for the silver eagle, and the one on the right got scrapped and they picked the one they were going to use for the silver eagle to put on the gold eagle.

in other words, the CFA got their gold eagle choice on the silver eagle, and the CCAC got their silver eagle choice on the gold eagle. seems like someone got it confused along the way to me.

I always like to buy the first coin of the series, so I will by the silver American Eagle and maybe the gold American Eagle. However, I will probably change my mind 2 or 3 times before they are issued. I just wonder what type of hype will Mike or Rick put on them to sell them.
