How many of you would go nuts for a four coin ASE set???? Can you see it???? 1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz! Collectors would go nuts for them. Well, obviously our British friends got the idea. I don't know if this is the first year for this set or not, but it is absolutely stunning!
Mexico has a 5 coin set that I have ordered and can't wait for it to arrive. There's is 1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz and 1/20oz. How sweet is that?
Sorry, I would not like it. If this happens, it is just another step to making the Mint like the Post Office. I am glad the Mint dropped many coins like the fractional gold and platinum products. They should not be introducing new 'sizes'. Leave that to the Australia, Canadain and British mints.
Didn't we just go through a whole "The US Mint makes too many things that people weren't buying" ordeal?
I saw that set. I would have bought one but IMO they are way overpriced. If the US mint did ASEs like that and marked them up that much, I wouldn't buy them either. I opted to just get the 1 oz Britannia and an 09 proof set from them.
Yes, but that was for products that nobody really wanted and they built up in their inventory. I don't think demand will be a problem if they came out with sets like this. Could be wrong. Yes, I absolutely agree with you that they are way over priced in US dollars. But thats the price you pay if you want something like that from over seas. IMO, everything I have purchased from every mint around the world is over priced. But I don't think that the US mint would mark them up that much, no more than what the current mark up is on the ASEs, because collectors would throw a fit.
yeah I would def buy things like at because they aren't overly decorative like the garbage the canadian mints been turning out (the snowflake coins...ugh) but those are amazing hats off to the Brits who came up with that nice set purhaps I'll get lucky and the canadian mint will issue a nice set like this
I know it is not the mint faults but they will be producing junk like that shortly. Who would want a 5 ounce silver 25 cent face value coin??? The Canadian mint would be proud.
Agreed, but I also hope that the Royal Mint (UK) will not start doing what the US Mint is about to do - issue dozens of 3 in, 5 oz silver coins with a 0.25 face value (see what taurus876 wrote). In my opinion, a 1 oz piece is both handy and affordable in silver, so I would not want a tiny 1/10 oz coin. But certainly not a five ounce giant either ... Christian
Great suggestion! For ten times the weight of the 3 oz quarter, I would even be willing to invest $2.50 ... Christian
